The Japan International Cooperation Agency is providing up to 15 billion yen ($192.17 million) for a water supply initiative in Vietnam.

The money will be used for the construction and management of water treatment plants and water supply systems in Hanoi and nearby areas, VOV News reports. The project is part of JICA’s efforts to support infrastructure development in poor countries while also helping Japanese companies export their technologies. A private Japanese firm, Metawater Ltd., will be working with the Vietnam Water Supply, Sewerage and Environment Investment Construction Corp., or VIWASEEN, on the project, VOV News says.
